Categories of Water Damage
In this weeks restoration education video, we discuss the different categories of water loss. Category 1 (clean water loss) is the easiest type of water damage to mitigate. Simple equipment and antimicrobial treatment will help to eliminate growth in the future.
Category 2 (Grey Water) flooding from a dishwasher or washing machine usually contains small amounts of bacteria and virus'. This type of loss should be reported immediately to mitigate. Removal of affected materials is often required to avoid future growth.
Category 3 (flooding) natural disaster flooding contains grossly contaminated waste. All affected materials must be removed to avoid contamination. Category 3 flooding should be treated with extreme caution to avoid illness and future growth.
