Fashion For Action

At SERVPRO of St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach, S. Nocatee and World Golf Village, we love getting involved with local events and organizations that benefit our community.
Over the weekend, we had the chance to attend Betty Griffin Center's 1st Annual Fashion For Action Fundraiser. The two-part event first featured exclusive shopping in their Julington Square thrift shop where shoppers got access to exclusive deals, raffles, and door prizes donated by local businesses and a chance to win a $50 Betty Griffin Thrift Shoppe gift card. Following the shopping, guests went to a local ballroom for a fashion show where influential men and women from our community modeled their favorite finds from both the Julington creek and the Anastasia Island shoppe locations. The goal of the fashion show was to show the great finds that can come from thrifting and inspire more people to shop at and donate to the Betty Griffin Thrift Shoppes and ultimately help Betty Griffin Center continue to fund their mission.
Betty Griffin Center has been proving shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in St. Johns County for over 30 years. They operate as an emergency shelter, transitional living, outreach services, and training and education programs throughout St. Johns county. Their mission is to offer protection and quality services for victims of domestic violence and their children, as well as victims of sexual assault. They offer shelter, assistance, counseling, and transitional support. In addition to the services they provide to victims, they strive to educate the community about the services they provide and raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault to break the cycles of violence.
Betty Griffin Center does so much throughout our community, we jumped at the chance to help them out and sponsor their Fashion For Action Fundraiser. The event had sold out weeks prior to the fashion show and was such a success that they plan on hosting similar fashion shows in the future. The best part, all of the ticket sales, raffle tickets, and proceeds from items bought at the thrift shoppe, will go towards continuing to fund Betty Griffin Center's mission.
